How does the tuition work?
All programmes are delivered by me, personally. Watch out when you're shopping around for business writing courses: many providers will farm out training work to inexperienced third parties, or charge you several hundred pounds for a ringbinder of photocopies.
With my programmes, it's personal. Every aspect of your training is directly tailored to your needs. That means:
We establish your skill level and what you want to achieve. Together we design a programme and choose project modules and teaching materials.
As far as possible, modules are based on real-life projects. Is it your job to write company press releases? Does your ecommerce site need better product descriptions? We can work on them together.
You can mix and match the modules you take. Do you want to improve your copywriting skills, and learn about business journalism? No problem.
You get direct and detailed tuition and feedback via email and the phone. For each unit, you'll need to set aside 2-3 hours of phone time and 4-5 hours of private study and writing time.
Unlike nearly every other provider offering business writing courses, I'm a fully qualified and experienced English teacher. I've taught English skills to school kids, adult language learners, university students and CEOs.
Click here for an example of a client assignment with my detailed feedback (PDF). This would tie in with a debrief session on the phone.
Most of my clients opt for a programme made up of five or six modules, but you can order as many or as few as you like. You can also order them one at a time. That means you can take a 'taster' module without the obligation to buy more.
There's no time limit, either. Although I recommend the work on each individual module is concentrated within one or two weeks (so we don't lose momentum) you don't have to take modules back-to-back. If you like, you can come back to me and take a fresh module every time a new training need arises.
A personal approach to training
Here are some of the things I don't do:
Expect you to teach yourself from booklets and worksheets.
Pass you on to a 'tutor' who offers minimal feedback and hardly ever talks to you.
Return your written assignments with meaningless marks, brief feedback and little or no opportunity for discussion of English skills and more advanced copywriting techniques.
Charge you a hefty, up-front fee. You can find out more about my prices and billing policy on my pricing page.
