Module topics

You can mix and match modules to suit your needs. If you want to concentrate on a particular skill area - say, copywriting or speechwriting - you can choose the same topic for five or six modules, and we'll work on a different assignment and a different aspect of that skill in each one.

1. Essential copywriting skills

Copywriting training was the original course I offered, and it remains the most popular. Useful for marketing managers, entrepreneurs and business owners - not to mention aspiring freelancers - modules in copywriting can help you write clear, effective sales copy that motivates customers and drives sales.

2. Improve your grammar and style

Many of my clients simply feel that they need write more accurate, readable English. Under this study area we can cover everything from the basics of spelling, punctuation and grammar to readability and the tricky business of matching style and tone of voice to audience.

3. Writing for speeches and presentations

Writing for live delivery takes specialist skill. You need to develop an 'ear' for spoken language, and understand strategies for creating compelling, focussed, efficient and witty speeches and presentations.

4. Journalism and PR

Whether you work for yourself of someone else, the ability to write in a good journalistic style is a useful one. Ideal if you want to raise your profile by contributing articles to your trade or professional publication.

5. Better email, memos and internal comms

Do you write 500 words when 100 will do, or drown your readers in management speak? Put an end to confusion and annoyance by learning how to write clear, direct internal comms.

What my clients say...

"I can count the number of teachers I've met who are as good as Bill Hilton on the fingers of one hand."

Paul Telfer, teacher and author of the bestselling How to write a UCAS Personal Statement.
